Google Maps gives me wrong directions all the time! - Google Maps

Since google is apparently so afraid of receiving complaints, because there is no way that I have found to contact someone directly, I am forced to complain on this forum. I am a business owner and I use google maps everyday to get around to my clients homes. However, there have been numerous times where google has led me to a wrong address, seriously affecting my work and deeply inconveniencing my clients. Today I was misdrected by google maps to an address that was not even close to the original address, which made me 1 hour late to my appointment. Of course I made sure to type the address correctly, even indicating if it's a St., Dr., etc., and yet I was sent to a completely different address. I used mapquest and it got me there with no problem. At this point, since I cannot even have the satisfaction of speaking with someone at google directly and having my complaint addressed, I think I will stop using google maps and use mapquest instead. At least then I won't be jeopordizing my work.

Same here! I wasted all day today looking for a house for sale, that Google sent me to a completely wrong direction! I googled 933 Highway 6, Swansea, SC 29160 and it led me turn EAST from the main hwy 321 and there were close numbers, but no "933". Google maps even showed me visual "photo" of the wrong place! Came back home, and found out that now the real estate agent sent me a link to MAPQUEST with the correct directions! Google Maps suck! Don't use them, unless you want to look up visual places how they looked years ago. Wasted the entire day!

Google maps has the characteristic of being idiot proof. It expects that, occasionally, someone will type in an address incorrectly and consequently it suggests one that is extremely similar which you might have intended to enter. It never does this without telling you, and at the top of any set of direction it produces it gives the address you are being directed to. If this is not the address you meant to go to (as you said, it wasn't anywhere close to where you were going) then you should've caught that before you began your trip.

Google maps is a public service provided to as much as accuracy as it can feasibly obtain. Many places will not release their accurate geographical and postal information and, since this is a free service, there is no revenue to fund a bounty hunt of each individual address on the planet.

Take some responsibility for yourself, your business, and your blatant disrespect for your clients' time. You would rather waste an hour of their time driving about aimlessly than take 2 seconds to double check you've received the correct directions?

I would highly recommend you invest in a dedicated GPS. You still get misdirected at times but most commonly available gps units offer automatic rerouting in case you make a wrong turn. I just purchased a Garmin NUVI 265 WT (widescreen and receives free traffic data for life in larger cities). Paid $220 with tax and shipping on Amazon. If you are seeing that many clients that you experience these kinds of inconveniences I don't think that would be out of your price range. We just took a family roadtrip from South Texas to Wisconsin (total trip log including miles "driven around" from my garage and back to my garage was 3,974 miles in 11 days). We never once were given incorrect directions. The beauty of this particular model is that is has suggested spelling so as soon as you get close to a name (street, city, business etc) it suggests options for you. And in a case where there is a Dr. a St. and a Blvd. it lets touch the screen for the one you want. ALSO if there is a N. and a S. (or E. and W.) it will ask which you want. And that brings me to your google issue - I wonder if perhaps you didn't know it but there was a South and a North version of the address you entered??? Perhaps 14806 S Jones St. versus 14806 N Jones St. (again another argument for a dedicated GPS unit). And in conclusion - let me also recommend a gps unit for you so that you are not wasting trees and paper to print out directions on a daily basis.
